He is so full of shit. So if Michael didn't molest him, then he molested no one. What about all the other boys that said he did. They all lied. It's perfectly normal for a grown man to have sleepovers with little kids. And it was perfectly okay for you to do drugs with Paris Jackson. I could care less about this has been.

R1 it's probably repressed memory like with Wade Robson. The maid saw them together. My guess is Macaulay thought it was consentual on his part, or doesn't want to be hugely embarrassed. Or be known as a MJ victim. For whatever reason, he's not ready for the world to know.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | February 12, 2020 12:55 AM |
Poor kid. We all know what happened. McCauley hasn’t had legit income from filming new stuff in decades. Perhaps small projects, but nothing like when he was a kid.
He lives better than most unemployed actors, and lofts in NYC are not cheap.
I would not give him shit for not speaking out. He is a victim, not a poster boy or crusader. Also, he was undoubtedly required to sign ironclad NDAs in order to get the millions settled upon.
I’m really disappointed that we, as a society, continue to hold victims of rape responsible for their rapes. How the fuck was McCauley able to protect himself? He was a child, and his parents were at the very least, criminally negligent in the duty to care for a minor, regardless of that minor being a child actor.
Some of these parents should have been charged, and it’s a shame that Jackson never faced legal justice for this.

It would be one thing if MJ were alive and Culkin were called to testify in an abuse case against him, but he is dead, and nothing will be gained by Culkin admitting that he was abused by him, if he was indeed abused by him. That is his personal issue that he should deal with however he wants.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | February 12, 2020 1:00 AM |
If he wants to say that he was not molested that is fine. But he has no right to speak for others.

[quote]He is so full of shit. So if Michael didn't molest him, then he molested no one.
Where did he say that? He said he did nothing to him and he didn't see him do anything to anyone else. His wording is very careful and clear.
(And while I think Michael did something to those children -- I wouldn't be surprised that he wasn't stupid enough to do something to one of the most popular child stars of his time just like I thought Weinstein wouldn't have been dumb enough to do anything more than say "Good morning!" and "Good night!" to President Obama's daughter when she interned.)
As for his finances, the guy turned down Big Bang Theory. Something tells me, like most celebs, at some point he invested in something so he has *some* money coming in.

by Anonymous | reply 34 | February 12, 2020 1:44 AM |
R30, all those movies were more than 25 years ago, and those high-paying roles were In wildly inconsistent scripts. Once the first round of accusations against MJ surfaced, that was the first blow to his career. Then it became known what an asshole his dad was, and he got blamed for it somehow. Strike two. Then the movies started flopping. Lots of parents were shocked by him playing a killer child in [italic]The Good Son[/italic] even though Brian Bonsall from [italic]Family Ties[/italic] did a similar (but lower profile) movie called [italic]Mikey[/italic] a couple years earlier. Then his movie with Ted Danson flopped as MGM was stuck in bankruptcy, then the movie version of [italic]Richie Rich[/italic] crashed and burned at the box office, as did [italic]The Pagemaster[/italic]. Three costly flops in a row, plus the fact that he aged out of the third [italic]Home Alone[/italic] movie and the fact that there was no way to put him in [italic]My Girl 2[/italic] after they killed him off in the first one, and the studios no longer wanted to deal with him anymore.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | February 12, 2020 1:44 AM |
R35 he was still paid MILLIONS per film. And still has Home Alone to coast off of the rest of his life. He is still a Household name because Home Alone will never die and new kids watch him for 3 decades now.

It wasn't Mac they didn't want to deal with, it was his ego-maniacal father they didn't want to deal with. Even at age 12, Mac couldn't stand the way his father was bullying the studios, agents, managers, even his own family.
Even at that young age, Mac knew the only way to get his father out of his life was to quit acting, So that is what he did, and Mac being his father's cash cow dried up

I don’t think DLers remember how massive Home Alone was in 1990/1991. It earned $285,761,243 DOMESTICALLY back then.
That is $612,204,278 in 2020 dollars.
A HUGE Blockbuster. That is not counting overseas, which was another $200 million. In modern day this would have made over $1 Billion.

by Anonymous | reply 43 | February 12, 2020 1:58 AM |
Mac money was kept in trust, so by the time he was able to get his hands on it, it was a multi-million dollar sum.

Didn’t he also buy some real estate in NYC back in the 90s when it was cheap? He was a teen at the time but I remember him investing in property for when the value went up. Smart choices.

Let's not forget the hush money from MJ
by Anonymous | reply 48 | February 12, 2020 3:12 AM |
Macaulay Culkin Salary History:
Uncle Buck (1989) $40 thousand
Home Alone (1990) $100 thousand
My Girl (1991) $1 million
Home Alone 2: Lost in New York (1992) $4.5 million
The Good Son (1993) $1.5 million
Getting Even with Dad (1994) $8 million
Ri¢hie Ri¢h (1994) $8 million
Total: $23.5 million
Earning $23.5 million between 1989 and 1994 is the same as earning $40 million today after adjusting for inflation. Macualey also reportedly owns apartments in New York City and Paris. He has owned his New York City apartment since the early 2000s.

R47 I always wondered if he got a percentage of the BO for HA2 also. It was a hit also but made much less than the first, which made it seem as a “failure” to some.

Yes r49, I said he invested money into Real Estate in the late 90s, early 00s. Wise decision. I remember he bought a loft for like $500k in the early 00s. That is probably worth a couple million now.

R35 I never understood why THE PAGEMASTER flopped so hard. It’s a beautiful film, largely hand/cell-drawn with a highly original script and a stellar cast. Even the dodgy CGI is well-deployed, and sparingly. There’s no other animated feature quite like it, even 25 years on.
I must have watched it over a hundred times as a child. Mary! me but I cried rewatching it sometime last year. The premise is quite a poignant one, and I think the message is one that kids of today could certainly afford to remember.

R14, if Michael was stupid enough to continue “sharing his love” with kids after the first brouhaha, garnering him a second act, then he was more than likely stupid enough to diddle the Caulkin boy.
These dudes aren’t known for wisdom, discretion, or self control, especially when they invest in setting up theme parks, zoos and security systems in their backyards, within their homes, all aimed at ensnaring kids and keeping out the adults who might object to kids sipping Jesus Juice and swapping “The Little Prince” for porn, at bedtime.
The argument that Jackson had any self control or objectively weighed risks, when predating upon little boys and the occasional little girl, is absurd.

Fuck, if I EVER made a decent choice in life, it was rejecting any and all offers to do heroin or pop pain pills, when I was wilding through the city streets as a youngster. Pretty sure I’d be dead right now, or hooked for life. It’s almost an impossible addiction to overcome.
That doctor who took MJ out deserves one of Trump’s medals of honor. He did the world a favor. Fucked up to say, but Jackson wasn’t going to prison, hence, options for containment or justice weren’t abounding in numbers here.
Sometimes, shit just has to be settled, permanently.
