Kelly Oubre Jr. is an American professional basketball player, who currently plays for the Phoenix Suns of the National Basketball Association (NFL). He played college basketball for the University of Kansas for a single season.

Kelly Paul Oubre Jr. was born on 9 December 1995 to parents Kelly Oubre Sr. and Tonya Coleman Oubre. He is accompanied by a brother Gared Washington and a sister Amber Coleman in his family. His father worked three jobs, including selling ads in the Yellow Pages and working overnight at Sam’s Club to raise his family. Later, he became a ninth-grade special education teacher in Texas.

Initially, Oubre attended Edward Hynes Elementary School and later went to George Bush High School in Fort Bend, Texas. He then went to the University of Kansas to play college basketball in 2013. He stands at a height of 6 feet 7 inches (2.01 meters) and weighs 205 lbs (93 kg).

His NBA Career, Stats

Kelly played college basketball for Kansas Jayhawks men’s basketball for the 2014–15 season. There, he averaged 9.3 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.1 steals in 21.0 minutes per game as per stats.

Oubre was selected by the NBA side Atlanta Hawks with the 15th overall pick in the 2015 NBA draft. He played for the Hawks for three seasons until 2018. He was then traded with Austin Rivers to the Phoenix Suns for Trevor Ariza in December 2018. His debut for the Suns marked two days later, scoring 13 points in a 111–103 win over the Boston Celtics.

However, in March 2019, he became out for the rest of the season with a left thumb injury. On 24 February 2020, Oubre suffered a right knee injury during the game against Utah Jazz. He underwent a successful arthroscopic surgery regarding the torn meniscus in his right knee on 3 March 2020.

Kelly signed a 2-year contract with the Phoenix Suns, worth $30,000,000. It includes $30,000,000 guaranteed, and an annual average salary of $15,000,000.
