First ever single was 'Scarecrow' written by Bernie Taupin. They went on to to become the most successful songwriting partnerships in the history of pop. 
Founded the Elton John AIDS Foundation in 1992 and has raised over $200m to support programs around the world.
Elton reworked one of his songs 'Candle in the Wind' for his friend's funeral, Princess Diana in 1997, and it sold more than 30m copies.
Elton and David's children were born via the same surrogate using an egg donor. Both fathers donated sperm so they don't know which of them are the biological fathers.
