- Douglas married her first husband, Roland Bourgeois, Jr., in 1949, to whom she had her only child, Danny Bourgeois, in 1954. The same year, the couple split. She married Robert M. Leeds, founder of The Beverly Hillbillies, in 1971, and was divorced in 1980.
Donna Douglas Final Year & Death
- In addition to her frequent visits to celebrate appearances and speeches, Douglas enjoyed gardening, spending time with friends and family, and responding to her fan mail. Douglas died of pancreatic cancer at Baton Rouge General Hospital, 82 years of age, on 1 January 2015. Her interment was in the parish of East Feliciana, the Bluff Creek Cemetery in Louisiana. Charlene Smith, Douglas's niece by marriage, said that Douglas had returned to East Baton Rouge Parish in about 2005: “She was always happy, always beautiful, you've always seen her with all her makeup, she's never seen her age.” Smith said that at Christmas 2014, Douglas had given her the Bible she had signed. Douglas has also applied scriptural verses to her gifts.
